Lightbulb New ‘ADAM Reviews’ Forum Section Suggestion

    Hi NotionAddicts,

At ownad's suggestion, I'm posting this New ‘ADAM Reviews’ Forum Section idea here for comments, and to encourage volunteers for the two 'ADAM [Media|User] MetaReview – a sum-over-reviews Summary' Coordinator positions to step up.

Arising from the discussion in BetnEddie's 'One Month from NOW' thread, I made a "new Forum Section and two Sub-Forums" suggestion, which is gaining support:

I’m thinking we need to anticipate the upcoming explosion of review activity that swoOop astutely highlights, both from the professional tech and general media AND from excited ADAM end users, by adding a new Forum Section and two Sub-Forums – my suggestion is:

ADAM Reviews in the Media: for threads linking to professional tech and general media ADAM reviews – eg: SlashGear, CNET, The Guardian – and the discussion of each review

ADAM Reviews by End Users: for threads where NotionAddicts review their own newly arrived ADAMs, and for links to similar end user reviews on other websites in the wider Notion Ink community – and the discussion of each review

    Your thoughts?
Seems to me that, given the number of purchasing decisions that will swing on ADAM's critical reception, this is the most natural extension of the discussion forums structure we already have in place have.

We could also do with a sticky thread in each sub-forum called, say, 'ADAM [Media|User] MetaReview – a sum-over-reviews Summary', which acts in a way analogous to a Rotten Tomatoes or MetaCritic webpage, eg: 'Inception' at Rotten Tomatoes, 'Avatar' at MetaCritic. If we agree that such an Executive sum-over-histories Summary sticky is a Good Idea, I'd suggest that ideally we'd have one volunteer MetaReview Coordinator to maintain each MetaReview Summary, keeping it up-to-date as the membership post new review threads below it. And below here is the place to volunteer for either of these two positions:
'ADAM Reviews in the Media' Sub-Forum:
    1. 'ADAM Media MetaReview – a sum-over-reviews Summary' Coordinator
    • 'ADAM Reviews by End Users' Sub-Forum:
    2. 'ADAM User MetaReview – a sum-over-reviews Summary' Coordinator
    Your thoughts?

    Peace-&-Love, dalinian

I think the reviews should use the forums already up

    ADAM News
    Member-Written ADAM News

These two forums should cover the reviews, isn't reviews news about the Adam?

I'd like to suggest putting a big STICKY somewhere easily read that says post your "OMG my Adam arrived and it is teh super awesomeness" posts in the Adam reviews by end users forum area

I think this is a great idea, especially if they are properly moderated. I've been lurking on here for a while, but just registered an account so that I could suggest heavier moderation of the Notion Ink Adam Reviews forum. Threads like "What happened to the cardboard stand?" and "List of retailers?" don't belong in the Reviews forum.
I think it would also be useful to make a sticky suggesting that each review have it's own thread. This would make it easier for people to find reviews they haven't seen yet, instead of new reviews being buried on page 5 of another review's thread.

Welcome to NotionAddicts and Thank you for the suggestion, theanimation! We have been trying our best to make sure the forums are properly moderated; however, given the recent influx of new members and posts, it is simply impossible for us to keep up with it. We will improve the organization of threads soon though!

    Question Moderating offensive messages

    Hi dalinian and ownad:

I love NIAddicts. But I get upset when someone calls NI's fans "imbeciles."

Are you moderating these nasty peeps' messages out of here?

    Example, posted by bogdan:
    --
NI's ordering system (lottery) is pathetic.

I basically have to wait until Rohan is kind enough to invite me to pre-order one. Or perhaps I have to pay $800+ to an ebay "businessman", who, once again, Rohan was careful enough to invite.

I've been keeping an eye on notionink.com for like 4 months, but it didn't occur to me to post something there. In any case I was away in December so I didn't have much time to take care of this anyway, but now I find out I will be *excluded* from the second preorder.

Anyway I got interested about adam because I wanted a pixelqi device. Not necesarely adam, but I must admit it seems to be the nicest one thus far. There's also Innoversal Lattice, they said it will be out no later than april. The nice thing about it is that is x86.

So I guess the only sensible thing to do is to buy a netbook (preferably with N550 atom) and put in a pixelqi screen, and then I'll have a proper computer with pixelqi.

Bottom line: My personal opinion is that Rohan is not really so fund of socialist fairness and equality values that he seems to promote (not that I like these ideas anyway), but this is simply a devious marketing plan, well worthy of Steve Jobs (remember how iphone4 took off this year?). And cute as these devices may seem, I am not in the habbit of doing business with such people and much less trusting them to write software for my device. While apple was never on my list, now I guess I have to take notionink off it as well.

Congratulations Rohan! You pulled it off, you already have a million imbeciles lined up ready to buy anything you market, while also going through the humiliation of ordering it. You're even sicker than Steve! You must be the next Indian billionaire in the making.
    Just curious.

    Best,
    Zelduh

P.S. I hope this is an OK thread to post this message on. Feel free to delete it!
