Rohan Shravan answers Android Police's questions about Adam

Android Police recently posted an article in response to Notion Ink Founder and CEO Rohan Shravan's latest post on the official Notion Ink blog titled What we have learnt in the past 2 days?. Android Police's response noted that they are not calling Adam an 'outright scam'.

Today, Android Police has just posted a piece containing questions they asked Rohan, as well as his responses. Both Android Police's questions and Rohan Shravan's responses are claimed by Android Police to be 'unedited'. Among the questions asked are about the video of Adam that is to be released by Notion Ink on December 18, whether the reason for the delays are a result of work needed to be completed on Eden, and if the Genesis Software Development Kit (SDK) is coming 'any time soon'. Below are the questions and answers between Android Police and Rohan Shravan:

AP: Regarding the December 18th video that has been promised, many do not understand why there is such a delay in producing a video to satisfy what are relatively simple demands (a few minutes of hands-on time with the Adam and Eden UI).

Rohan: Its does, but 18th December is a special date for us. Its the anniversary of Adam’s announcement

AP: Are you waiting to receive a production example from the factory? Have any been assembled yet?

Rohan: No we already have that. Around 300 have already been shipped across the world to our partners.

AP: Is the delay due to the need to complete work on the Eden UI? Can you provide real, non-emulated video of the Eden UI on the Adam (preferably a production model)?

Rohan: Eden UI is complete. In the next video I will show you will have the same running.

AP: Is the Genesis SDK coming any time soon?

Rohan: Genesis SDK has gone into major up-gradation because of 2.3. Most of our partners and University partners have the access to our SDK

AP: Can we get a shot/video of the Adam running Android 2.2 or 2.3 showing the Eden UI and proof of the underlying Android version?

Rohan: Sure, as discussed earlier.

AP: Is all the hardware functional – USB and HDMI out? A video demonstration would be necessary.

Rohan: Sure.

AP: Is the money from pre-orders being used as capital to build the actual devices?"

Rohan: No way! To Manufacture anything in March, we need to pay right now. Even if the pre-order system takes money from the customers, we have no access to it for more than one month! We need to confirm the delivery of the product before we get access to it. For example as a standard, you can check the PayPal and other banks for the same.

Android Police states that there are more questions and answers to come soon.

It seams Rohan is confident. That is good!

If everything he is saying is true, it means that they are actually good product makers. Maybe not so good business mans or sellers, but good developers. I am writing this because the rush they've prepared orders with, raised a question if there was similar rush with writing the software for Adam. From the interview it seems that they have everything under control, at least the device part, which I am most interested in

If you watch the video of the demo at CES 2010 you will see that he is not real "talkative". He communicates, but does not add a lot of words to his explanations. This might be his basic demeanor or possibly it is more difficult to be talkative in a secondary language. He might know that the more words he puts out there in english the more that might be mis-interpreted. I understand this as people have to drag long explanations out of me. In a second language it would be worse.

I would love to know "who" this partner are... If someone has an acces to SDK, wouldn't he shout it out loud? Even if there is confidentiality (and I don't understand why someone shouldn't say he has access to SDK...), there is always a leak...

lets wait 4 the demo video that rohan has promised.majority of people everywhere thinking that it would be a 2 or 3 minute ad!but no,i strongly feel that it would be a full flegded clip over 5minutes.explaining every function,capability it has to offer!
When the video will come,i wanna see frustrations on engadget website,that doofus there will surely get loads of hate comment!

There's got to be a video on the 18th. I dont need to spell out the consequences if there is no video.

I will make a prediction here: The video will not convince all concerned. It will raise more questions than it answers. Of course it doesn't have to be this way. Lets wait and see.
