Just got the letter from TNT yesterday on taxes and charges

PQI wifi only model has incurred

VAT £71.37
DPF £15.00 deferment proc. fee
Net £86.37

TNT have applied Vat on the DPF @ 20% (£3)

so total is £89.37

thats steep i think for UK buyers to pay and NI should of thought of this and taken this into consideration also!

I'm a little confused as saw someone mention that tablets are exempt but obviously not if you have been asked to buy this so my question is have you received the ADAM now then?

You can hardly blame Notion Ink for the UK VAT rate!

The 'exemption' mentioned was from Import Duty, not VAT.

Not entirely at this stage maybe, but everything is market driven so they would need to think about it later if they want the UK market to purchase the product as would be silly to generic price a product which is good for some but bad for others.

just curious if anyone else received an LCD Adam in the UK and if they could also confirm the VAT + handling charges...

also, do we need to pay the courier at the door? or do they call/contact us ahead of time to obtain the payment and then deliver? just want to make sure someone is at home and be ready with cash

This is something i would also like to know as some have stated receiving a letter first but would be nice to know from any UK buyers that have received an Adam what the process for them.
