No mention of the student and university discounts?

I must say that I was very disappointed to see that the only version that got the $25 drop in price is the lowest end model. In fact, it seems like the other versions went up in price!? I was looking to get the PQ + Wifi version which originally was supposed to go for $425-450, with the big hopes of dropping another $25 AND it was mentioned that there would be discounts for students and universities. So I figured at best guess, I would be spending somewhere under 4 bills but now it seems that the price has gone up, no $25 discount, and no mention of student discount. Oh, and then there's the $50 shipping escalating the new price to be $550 - about $150 more than I had hope to spend.

I'm just hoping that my faith in NI is being tested and that Adam will come through sadly it seems that the higher the expectations were, the more it hurts when they fall.

I've heard a lot about a mention of student discounts, but haven't seen any sources. Can you cite them? I wouldn't expect any kind of discount until things get really rolling anyways.

Not sure if these two sites are using the same source but here they are:

    http://technoholik.com/news-tablet/l...ltitasking/519

The company is working on a deal to shave off a further $25 from the end-user price. After securing their last round of funding, Notion Ink is coming out with four versions of the tablet at launch. All versions will be running the same UI and share the same internal specs and features.

    LCD Adam with Wi-Fi: $375-$399
    LCD Adam with Wi-Fi & 3G: $425-$449
    PixelQi Adam with Wi-Fi: $425-$449
    PixelQi Adam with Wi-Fi & 3G: $450-$498

These prices look very encouraging, and not too far from their first declared price, which the founders later said was a misquote. If we were to do conversion on XE.com, the starting price of the entry level Adam comes to around Rs. 18,000, topping at around Rs. 23,500. Notion Ink plans to further subsidise this tablet with discounts for students and universities.

Four versions of Adam will be launched: each will use NVIDIA’s Tegra 2, but there will be Pixel Qi and LCD models and a choice of WiFi-only or WiFi and 3G. The company has confirmed that all will come in under the cost of a basic iPad; our source tells us that the LCD version will cost $399 for the WiFi-only and $449 for the 3G model, while the Pixel Qi version will cost $449 for the WiFi-only and $498 for the 3G model. We’ve also heard that, if Notion Ink can clinch a last minute deal they’re working on, a further $25 could be shaved from each of those figures, plus there will be special discounts for universities and students. [Update: Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan has confirmed the pricing we heard]

agreed. the price for the pqi-wifi went up from original postings and i too had hoped for, but not really expected, to see some sort of student/university discount. i suspect that the discounts may come later on down the road once they're in full production mode (rather than pre-order mode) but still, some mention of it would have been nice. the price increase on the pqi-wifi was disheartening though for sure.

I think they would need to work out deals with the universities first.

Like some of us, I seriously doubt a university would accept a deal when there is very little in device details.

I'd give it at least a couple of months before they roll out with student discounts.
