    Worried about to high expectations

Isn't strange to be addicted to something you haven't touched or experienced yet?
Are our expectations not too sky high?
Don't get me wrong; I'm also, just like you, for more than a year in anticipation on what looks like to be a great tablet.
But it will be difficult for the Adam to live up to the high expectations.
I must think about the tragedy with the Nefonie WeTab, which will make it a lot difficult in Germany for IPadkillers to get a fair chance.
I'm not worried about the software side of things, but more on the hardware side; will the sound be satisfying, will it be able high def movies as good as advertised, etc.
Lets make a list of criteria on which we can say: if this and that is ok, than we are satisfied.

I'm guessing that the list of criteria that you suggest has got be personal, otherwise this thread will go up in flames between all the disagreeing POVs

I would attribute most of the passion that I see on these forums to a widespread sense of discontent with the current lackluster offerings in the tablet (and dare I say mobile) market. In this context, a product as promising as the Adam draws consumers to it not because of marketing genius (Apple...) but due to its perceived, sheer, technological and philosophical superiority.

Also, I agree that it is not fully rational for such a large group of people to be going bunkers over a product that has yet to come out, from a company that has yet to launch a single product... but addictions are never rational, are they? hahaha

At the end of the day, maybe we're all hopeless romantics

-Good User Manuals, FAQs and perhaps some Video tutorials. (I RT*M first)
-Responsive tech support and customer service.
-Stable and reliable connection to wi-fi or 3g (initially a glitch with the Nexus One, which tried to jump back and forth between Edge/3g/wifi, solved after the froyo update)
-Seamless integration with existing Google services in the custom apps. (gmail/maps/calendar/voice/checkout/etc.)
-USB Host drivers for most USB peripherals (hubs, ext. storage, HIDs, speakers, etc. Microphones, webcams etc. would be nice too)
-easy bluetooth setup (including for VTech phones, printers, etc.)
-a nice paint/draw app (photo & video editing would be a plus)

and last but not least (actually probably first of all):

    -Pixel Qi screen goodness....

If it has a trackpad... and better still, support for a digitizer pen... I'll send Rohan a drawing of a HEART hanging from a palm tree.

I for one thought this was notion addicts not adam addicts and come here because it saves time search the blog for new bit of info. That said I am more of an information addict.
I do agree with the high expectation comment, but hey it is always fun to dream.

Yes, I have heard that if technology is advanced enough, it is indistinguishable from magic.

The Adam sounds to bloody well be a 'Gift from the Gods'

Very excited, gonna have one ASAP. Want my shiney.

of all my fears, I have one good feeling, the development community. If the Archos can attract some decent devs, then I'm sure the Adam will. Regardless of any software hangups, the hardware is strong enough to allow a multitude of modding/custom romming. If it doesn't play the way I like, I'll load something else on it.

I've been excited enough that I've busted out some old programming modules thinking maybe I'll seriously get into Deving (not through Genesis). just need the motivation.....

I personally have little expectations, and hope for the best. I for sure think that if this Dec 9 date is a pre-order date, it is complete folly to do so. I would never pay money for a product that I've never seen or don't have complete, detailed information for. Right now all we have are some digital-mockups, a youtube video, and tech specs for one tablet, not the 6 different versions they talk about. If no complete information on the product comes out before pre order, including software information, my spidey senses will be high and I'll definately hang back until further review.

So long as the hardware is decent I'm happy. It's these specs I believe in. I'm guessing everyone else is the same else why not get an Archos 10.1 or whatever. Unless it's that killer weather app people are waiting for.
Hoping for tech support and manuals etc is wasted. You have seen the website, right? This isnt i-Fruit 2010, it's Fruit-1 1976. Bleeding edge build it yourself stuff.
Like my Popcorn hour before it, I expect NI to give us the HW and the community to make it work
At best I'd hope for regular updates from the website or a forum and I think Rohan's interaction shows that will happen.

    Thanks for your reactions

Glad to see you all have not lost your critical sense.
    This list:

    -Pixel Qi screen goodness....
is a good starter to define a realistic wish list.
I would add: reasonable quality of sound from the speakers.
Responsiveness of software especially on the most used areas:internet apps, multimedia..

If have high expectations of the Pixel Qi screen but have doubts on how nice/problematic it is to lose the colours when it is used.
    On the danger of pre-ordering:
I never pre-ordered before a product that wasn't independently tested, but promised this to my daughter as a present last November, so I'm in doubt what to do, how long to wait...

My expectation is that I can be a part of this revolution soon.

In fact, NI got me at their first motto. If I remember it correctly, they said "Every Once n a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything. It’s notion ink”
