That's certainly another one of those issues that needs to be developed. One thing to consider is that NI has registered as a limited company in Las Vegas (US) and one would imagine that it is required that the head office be detailed as correspondent to that registration. I'm not sure whether these things are public, though I cannot imagine why they would not be (and several reasons why, if they are not, they should) but perhaps another avenue to check out.
If you have not done so already I also urge you to keep a record of all the communications. Print them out and save them to a secure account. Not so that you can take legal action or some other drastically expensive option, but it might help you further on down the line.
I can definitely understand your annoyance. If I were in your situation I would be doing the same. (Indeed, the suggestion of DOA--damaged or dead on arrival, I would imagine--is something that is frequently mentioned as a reason that you should go and buy another device!)
I think that it's fairly early in the game to start negative rumours about TNT/DHL or whatever "refusing" to ship. There might be a wide number of features that are causing the issue that you are just not aware of at the moment. (Though NI should be making sure that you are aware of them.)
Good luck with the process. I would also suggest that you post a thread in the "official" forum and request that people other than Tina or another representative of NI hold off posting on it since for the most part that seems to follow the line of thread-crapping. In and of itself, if ownad (et al.) continue to clean up that forum there will be a separate message if all the support request threads have zero (official) replies.
Of course, even then there might be an explanation (not to be conflated with an excuse)--they could be building their support infrastructure over on the official site.
