What will you do if you get a DOA Adam? One thing is for sure - another waiting period if you are fortunate to even get a NI support number to call.

Anyway just to go off topic slightly, I recently introduce my sis and dad who are not tech savy to android ecosystem.Got them to upgrade their phone to an android one and boy they love it! They are shock at how much they can do with the android ecosystem.

*sigh* Does everything have to be an opportunity to have a dig? Perhaps you should change your URL to "Debbie Downer?" I got my tracking number today and you're just sucking the optimism just right out of the equation.

You're right, though. If I get a DOA I'm going to have to go through another waiting period. On the other hand, the last time I went through this with Samsung they not only refused to fix the device, but responded with the same 'ole pro forma responses because the problem was actually the wireless dongle for a Blu-Ray player and it was too expensive for them to replace. They were happy for me to buy a new one, but despite the fact that it was in warranty they were not willing to honour that agreement.

That's a big company. I had to deal with no responses to emails, poor customer service, and the decision to either take legal action against the company or just suck it up. Since I'm not a wealthy person I just had to suck it up and have a cable trailing across the floor because a "big company" had figured that the cost of postage to determine that there was nothing at fault with the device (they tell you not to ship the wireless dongle) was less than replacing what was probably a faulty wireless dongle that they didn't want to admit was faulty.

Go big business when you're the little man. You see, there's the flip side to the coin. If you're fortunate enough not to have experienced it then great. Sucks if you're the bug that the big man steps on.

Little man? The proportions change somewhat. Maybe. Who knows.

I am glad most of you got your tracking number and no this does not happen to NI only, come on its obvious it even happens to big companies on rare occasions otherwise most of them will not be big.

Remember its not just about having a great product that makes a company successful its the customer service behind that closes the gap - No wonder companies spend lots of money to improve in customer service.

NI has a great product no questions about it.But I am I sold on their customer service? Nah, all can attest to it.When NI hacks interviewed Rohan he did not even apologize to his customers, duh? I have always said this can anyone give me a NI support number to call?....MATrickett?..anyone

When the not so fortunate get their defective Adam they will be back to square one.Get behind the keyboard, support@notionink.com, hoping someone gets back.

Trust me guys I love the underdog always done from soccer to even the car I buy and I wish NI will succeed but until they get a solid foundation I am not sold.NI has been tested and they failed not in the product but in the very important part of a business - customer service. Why have most people made complains like "all they had to do was tell us and we will be okay" - no one is complaining about the product its about the customer interface. Anyway Xoom is for me.

MATrickett like I have said I will be happy when most people get their Adams so I am not sucking no optimism out of the equation. As you said you are "not wealthy" and so I am sure since you are not an impulse buyer you want to make sure your money takes you far and so one thing you forgot to add to your equation when buying the adam is customer service......not defending samsung, the experience was not the best how many times does this happen? Anyway did you have the necessary things to facilitate getting in touch with them? a website, chat, phone number, email.Lets see with NI only email and then you have to come to forums like these to search for answers if you can even get a solution. You got people begging this company to talk to them and its been terrible. All I am just saying is look ahead not just the instant gratification now...enjoy your Adam.

Then go some where else. Why keep coming back to this forum and keep posting about Adam. Oh, you haven't bought that Xoom / iPad2 yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because if you had, you should be working with those word class service organisation whose call land some where in Asia and automated answering system must be requesting endless selection question to decide the level of support. LOL.

I pre-ordered a Xoom a few days ago and begun contesting the CC charge from NI.

Today I received a tracking number for both my Xoom AND my Adam.

I'm going to call my CC and tell them I've resolved my issue with NI. Guess I'll have a few days with each tablet before I decide which one to keep.

I would suggest that while this might not be your intent, it is almost certainly the effect that you are having.

I find this and the rest of your post to come off as perhaps not-unsurprisingly patronising. I'll take this with a pinch of salt, however, but I would ask that you do not try and predict what I did or did not think about before entering into the NI pre-order. Suffice to say that I certainly had less expectations for a startup company than I do for one that has almost three times the revenue of Apple Inc. Even then it failed me manifestly on the three times that I have contacted them on two separate products regardless of whether they had multiple vectors of support.

Of course, that's just my experience. I'm sure that many people have had much better experiences.

There would be a commensurately greater requirement that the have all their ducks in a row next time, but once one moves beyond the "sheeple" there is a growing community of individuals out there that think before they leap.

Good for you. I shall now vote with my fingers and just avoid the thread. Good luck you two.
