Loud static noise coming from speakers randomly

Since I got my Adam, about once per day on average I have experienced a problem where instead of playing a sound, my speakers will make a loud noise that is very reminiscent of turning your TV to a channel that you do not get. I posted a video of it:

Sometimes, instead of making the noise, it will just stop making any noises at all. The only way to fix either of these problems is to reboot the device. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it is acting this way, and I haven't found a way to actually trigger it at-will. It usually tends to start happening when I'm watching a video on YouTube or typing using the NI keyboard, but that's probably because those are the most common things that I do that would normally cause a sound to be played.

I've been emailing NI support back and forth this past week, and so far we haven't found a solution. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue with my Adam. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just so you know, you are not alone. I do not know why it occurs like that - it is random, but usually when I boot an application for the first time that uses sound. It's never the first application, but only after I've been using it for a while. I have found no recourse other than lowering the volume and rebooting.

Should be noted that I am running EdenX 2.0.1, although I do not agree yet that it's a hardware issue since I cannot arrive at a causation that would point to the hardware.

Ah, at least I'm not alone. I've tried stock, EdenX, and Perf Tweaked and had the same results each time. Hopefully you're right and it can be fixed with a software patch.

I have the same problem. It remindes me of a dial-up connection; trying to connect to a telephone.

Hi, I received my adam a few days back and when I wake it up from sleep, there's loud static which comes through the speakers. Reducing the volume doesn't seem to make a difference. Putting it back to sleep mode makes it stop, but it only goes away after a reboot.... anyone figured out a way to solve this?

I'm having the same. I think it's capturing GSM signal (some interference with speaker membrane or speakers circuit). When this sound occur in speakres then after 3-4 seconds I hear that someone has gotten an SMS in nearby phone
The same is happening with my HP printer which has fax and speakers.

Same problem here. Quite annoying, when it happens. In fact, my Adam totally let me down making this static sound during an argument with a friend about how much better my Adam was than his Ipad. I lost the argument.

Has this been resolved yet? BigFwoosh, did you ever hear back from NI? or is their support really as bad as their failure to update their website.
