I didn't see the screen resolution. And apparently, no 3G.

As you say, no PQi. Going beyond that, though, it's an i-gadget clone. To tempt me into buying a tablet I need something more than another toy. The i-gadget is a toy.
With that said, it's a wonderful toy.![]()

Not sure how they plan to do it... but is certainly sounds interesting...1280 x 800-pixel HD resolution (native 720p) and 16:10 aspect ratio,.............Toshiba's Adaptive Display technology ensures that you get the best visual experience, automatically adjusting the display's brightness and color to the lighting environment--making it readable even on the sunniest parts of the patio.![]()
I feel that Toshiba's tablet and many other android tablets to come this year will be very similar to each other. Most that I've heard of so far are 10.1" screens, have similar resolution to the adam or xoom, will run gingerbread, and basically have similar specs with the exception of cellular provider.
The PixelQi screen does make the adam unique, for now, but the adam also comes in an LCD variety which makes it very similar to everything else. I would say that the Adam's strongest point so far is its price.

Here's the official Toshiba tablet website: http://www.thetoshibatablet.com/. Looks to me to be a direct competitor to the Motorola Xoom. Although I think the LCD screen of the Toshiba tablet might be of better quality than the Xoom's LCD screen and rival the iPad IPS screen. We'll have to wait and see about that.
Personally I like the Toshiba tablet better than the Xoom, and if it's not twice as expensive as a LCD-Adam, I might even consider buying it while there's no progress made by NotionInk to become a more reliable company.
I do like the Adam, but I'm a bit worried to order an Adam given the present situation with NotionInk (unresponsive to support requests, severe lack of communication with potential customers, unexplained long waiting periods for people who ordered and paid...)
At a guess? The brightness of the back-light varies as a function of the intensity of the ambient light. That is, if it's bright outside the "adaptive display technology" (read: an LDR) ramps up the backlight and begins to suck the battery dry at an increasing rate. Noting, of course, that the image is taken in the shade, at an angle... blah blah blah.

My thoughts exactly! (I have an early Samsung netbook that I upgraded to W7. For the first few months after the upgrade, with no way to manually control the brightness, the screen stayed in perpetual power-saver mode, and was too dim to read even in a dark room. They finally released a new W7 driver with a manual brightness slider... and now at full brightness, it even works outside in extremely bright glaring shade. I haven't dared to check the battery drain with it cranked up, but that's what extension cords are for :P At least I can use now, sitting outside under an awning or an umbrella. It's not a touch screen, and it's not Pixel Qi... but it gets the job done.)
So after you concede that Toshiba doesnt have a PQi screen and still state its a toy, not sure how the Adam is any different. And I mean an Adam that you still dont have in your hands...
Adam is just a cheaper toy...Eden doesnt add any value from what I read online and neither does their customer service, or their fictional market.
When I actually read through the information, it's not quite an i-gadget clone. What I mean principally by "i-gadget clone" is the form factor--while there is only so much that can be done, I don't think that anyone is really innovating with regards to the shape and use of the tablet, except perhaps to make it look even more like something out of Star Trek.
Your mileage my vary here, but it's just not as impressive to me as the Adam (though you could probably get one quicker!), at least in terms of form, function, etc. Of course, whether it can actually live up to the hype is another matter (and apparently not), but in terms of the "overall product" the Adam pretty much has everything beat on the market at the moment. For me, that is, and I admit that I have some very particular requirements.
