New 'Features' Page on Notion Ink's Website

Notion Ink's new official website was launched earlier this week. The front page of the site shows Adam, and displayed information about Adam's Design and Adam's Technical Specifications. However, now there is a new page, titled 'Features'. This new page details some of Adam's components. Below are a few of the components from the Features page.

NVidia Dual Core Tegra 250 Processor

If you’re wondering what’s the deal with the Nvidia Tegra 250, process this: incredible number crunching ability for ultra-responsive apps and buttery-smooth animations, coupled with amazing battery life that’ll last you for the long-haul. The Tegra SoC houses 8 independent processors - in addition to the two Cortex A9 cores, there are processors to accelerate audio and video, a GeForce GPU and more. Gamers - we’re talking about a truly immersive 3D gaming that won't drain your battery in the middle of a boss fight.

    Transflective Screen

The Adam is your window to everything under the sun, and we’ve taken a lot of care to ensure that the display reflects that. Notion Ink’s patented work with ambient light sensors helps the Adam instinctively switch to the most appropriate display configuration based on your environment. You can choose your Adam with a back-lit LCD for vivid colors and a top-notch multimedia experience, or a transflective display for brilliant clarity and readability in the widest possible range of ambient light conditions. No matter which one you pick, it boasts an incredibly fast refresh-rate for smooth videos, unlike e-ink which does around 2-5 fps.

    185° Swivel Camera

The swivel-camera is our point-of-departure from a fixed perspective. Pick your own frame - facing you (-5°) when you’re video chatting with a friend, at 90° to capture a live lecture or meeting, and at 180° for snapping photographs. Our proprietary Automatic View Rotation makes sure your images are always the right side up. Click, rotate, record and transmit: the Adam’s all-seeing eye makes sure it captures your favourite angle of the story.

    I can't wait!
Poets say science takes away from the beauty of the stars - mere globs of gas atoms. I, too, can see the stars on a desert night, and feel them. But do I see less or more?

I'm not sure if I misunderstood your question, but Adam already has a built-in WiFi radio.

@Chaz: Do you mean a USB HSDPA modem? These have been known to NOT work with Android. But Adam comes with HDSPA/3G optional, so you don't need one.

Which actually brings up something that I've been wondering. How would you go about getting 3G service on an Adam? Would you be tied to whichever cell provider agreed to support an Adam, or do you need to essentially pay for a voice line that you are never going to use?

Apologies if this is an obvious question to anyone, but the Adam will be my first mobile data device.

i meant a 3g wireless internet connection. already have broadband in my house. im talking about something like this: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/mobil...ion-mc760.html

for it to work i would need to get the 3g model adam?

the other option im thinking is if i get the wifi model adam and get a mifi device like this: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/mobil...mifi-2200.html

correct me if im wrong please. im a bit confused with what the 3g version means, i thought it was a slot for a sim card for 3g service and most companies dont use sim cards anymore. maybe the 3g version is so you can use the usb 3g adapter?

At least here in the UK, most mobile providers are still using standard sized sim cards even in their USB mobile internet dongles. So it would be a case of taking out the sim and inserting it into the 3G Adam (as long as it has a cost effective data plan option). Or purchasing a sim only data plan. So you wouldn't be tied to a specific provider, it would effectively be like buying an unsubsadised unlocked mobile phone, except for data rather than voice. I know in the us that verizon don't hence why they bundle in a mi-fi type external wi-fi option with their store iPad and why there has been endless speculation about the cdma iPhone. From what we know of pricing on the Adam, it doesn't sound like there is going to be too much of a price premium on the 3G variant so I might get that version anyway in order to give myself more options for future use (and even though I may not make use of it initially).
