You could inform people that if they want to send a picture message, they should address it to your email address instead of your number. This is a bit more complicated for them, but it is a workaround.

Thats what I was thinking, it just gets rid of the complete single method integration where everyone doesn't even has a clue you playing the system.

Well I've stated this a few times but I 'was' planning on
*Getting the 3g version - $449
*Paying for skype unlimited calling 2.99/month in USA/Canada - http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/pay-monthly
*Getting installing hacked Skype App - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeu...cked-apps.html
*Paying for a data plan on a GSM sim card
*Linking my google voice number to my skype number / using Google Voice App option to always call out using google voice number
*Vibrarting bluetooth headset (so I can answer calls/change volume/ vibrating alerts/ voice dialing - without pulling ADAM out of my backpack)

This would allow me mobile data usage, unlimited texting through google voice app, unlimited calling through skype app (seen as my google voice number), all for about $40 a month.
Also you can cancel anytime, (well skype has a 3 month minimum but it's only $9)

Only thing I haven't got figured out is picture messaging as picture messaging to google voice numbers currently does nothing currently... All my contacts were already informed that I changed my number to my 'new' google voice number

Only reason I'm not doing this is my current phone/data plan [ shared minutes + 5GB data on sprint (which they dont check) ] is only $20 more for my sister to have on our total plan.

Lol, haha I think about this and say no a phone is much better at being a phone. But at the same time I look from an outside perspective and think I maybe a little too attached to the idea of having a phone. Do I really need to check email/ call people between wifi spots (maybe on long trips, but some people don't even have cells yet).

Either way though, currently my plan is to keep my Palm Pre on me which can answer call when not near wifi, as well as tether if I want to use the internet/call on the ADAM away from wifi.

You have 3G in the subway ? Usually when I go underground most 3G is instantly gone.

I'm still trying to work out, in my head, how the tethering would work. I have a DroidX which I tether with my laptop using PDANet. How would that work with Adam? Someone would have to write the Ethernet interface shim that is currently on Windows/OSX for use on Android. I'm not sure how technically difficult that would be since I'm a Network Engineer and not a programmer.
