Goliath Case for Adam

Hey fellow Notion Ink fans, I, like you have noticed a lack of cases for our awesome product and decided, hey I know how to make cool stuff why not give it a crack! (plus I work for a product design company with manufacturing connections in China). The case I envision would be focused on impact resistance for outdoor use. I'm a survivalist/outdoor enthusiast at heart and will be keeping my survival books/ reference material on my PixelQi Adam. This great outdoor tablet is gonna need a hell of a shock proof case though and a thin one at that. I'm calling it Goliath Protection keeping with the biblical nomenclature of Adam and got renders up this weekend. I've tried to keep with biomemetic approaches to mimic animals abilities to have ultralight strong structures (i.e. Toucan Beak). The design is basically a silicone skin which allows full access to everything while adding thicker bumpers on the corners. The skin can be standalone or combined with the hardshell which has a flush integrated stand built in for multiple viewing angles, including but not limited to portrait and landscape mode. The hardshell also has doors that cover the ports when not in use. No pics of the stand part yet as this needs to be patented first (expect patents filed in a week or two).

I put all my ideas into this but now I've run out, I'd love the support of the community and dont want to start any case wars with anyone (NIH) I'm all about collaboration and not about competition. *edit, NIH has informed me that they are also doing silicone inner with hardshell outer. I still feel there is no real issue as we were definitely not the first to come up with this concept . I wish them the best of luck with their development and hope to see them come to market soon. Variety and choice is necessary for the consumer and I will continue developing my design which is unique and different to their approach.

I love it!!! This is more something that I would buy for when I am on travel for work. My job requires me to frequent the desert and I need something that will keep my adam safe. The other 60% of the time that I'm in my office this may not be so practical though. Maybe I'll just buy two

love it. do u have anything to protect the glass screen, i don't see any in the images. i also like tho see how the kick stand morph seamlessly with the body case. all that said, i think this going to be a great product.

I'm still thinking of a stackable type cover for the screen. On would be sleek that you can pop or slide up and around to reveal the screen. Another module which would be thicker and heavier would have a keyboard. All should have a place to hold a stylus or the ability to tether one. For extreme conditions, protection for the camera lens.

Hi Nosanon, it looks like a good approach. Does it have a screen protector ? Also If you could include a slot/ring something like that to hold a stylus, that would be nice. I came across this site https://www.kickstarter.com/ which helps people (esp designers like you) to raise funds for their projects while safeguarding the investors. Probably you know about it already. If you could list this there with more details, and spread the word to NI community, that would get you (and us) some real support.

Wow, thanks for all the great feedback guys, after some comments about a screen cover I've decided to integrate one that doubles as a stand (both landscape and portrait) There was already a really unique stand design in the back that would have allowed the Adam to be landscape mode at 75degrees, 45 degrees and 25 degrees as well as portrait mode at 55 degrees (couldn't show because patents aren't filed yet), but after the comments (and I agree) about screen protection I've come up with a new stand design that integrates with the screen protection. I'll have renders up tomorrow since today I have to work on other projects, just know the screen cover is going to use a solution that is used my the massive dams in the world to hold back all that water and wont actually make contact with the screen, it will deflect impact to the sides and not into the glass.

Oh and ETA would be as soon as Kickstarter lets me in their program + 1 month , I've submitted the application and am waiting on their OK. In the mean time i'm developing prototypes so when funding comes through I'd be ready to roll, like I said earlier I have a manufacturer lined up in Shanghai China already, one I've worked with on projects before so thats not an issue, package design is done (in my head) so thats no problem either. The only thing I'm waiting for now is Kickstarter. Oh and I got fulfillment setup for US already, although I'd take any recommendations on international fulfillment ideas since I'm getting interest in UK and Europe as well.
