Thread: 3G Settings help needed

  1. #11
Glad you got it fixed . But, for 200 mb a month, I figure you're going to be doing some light browsing, right? If you have a smart phone, you can always wireless tether it to the tablet. I tried that with my G2 (unlimited internet), and it worked pretty well.

I did go back and search again with 2 AT&Ts coming up (one had DR on the end). I selected the just AT&T and it connected.
Connects to the internet now in the browsers.
Sweet, glad I could help, man. That rep+ button is pretty awesome, if ya know what I mean ;-) haha.

Edit: Could you do a speedtest, please? Like speedtest.net (if you've got flash working) or mobilespeedtest.com/.

I'll probably switch to the 5gb plan eventually. Apparently my workplace gets a 20% discount so I'll definitely be using that when I get their end set up. For now it's just light browsing, checking/sending email.

I didn't know that there was a rep+ button until you mentioned it. Definitely, clicked it though.

I think the settings that AT&T gave me were for setting up a phone with sms, neither of which I had. I did enjoy that the guy helping me had heard of the Adam, was thinking about getting one, and was verrry glad to help out the best he could to get everything working after he got to hold it.

Thanks for the info... (I used EDGE with an old blackberry and the nexus one when it first came out... 4G it's not! but nice to have if all else fails!)

Anyone tried using a Vodafone UK SIM card yet? In the 900MHz Adam of course. Just anticipating...
Pixel Qi + 3G Preordered, expected 15-22nd Jan, then 29th, then Feb 14th, then 'Shipping in Progress',then 'Shipped'.

Received TNT number 24th Feb, arrived at local depot 2nd March and I collected same day.

So I've done this, but it still wont connect, the phone number is unknown and the network is disconnected... what am I doing wrong.. any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: so i found these settings that work well! If the settings above don't work for you on ATT use these:

    APN Name: AT&T
APN: broadband (all lowercase per AT&T)
    MMC: 310
    MNC: 410
    Leave everything else blank!

    got them from here

I had to do this on AT&T Central Florida with sim out of my phone.

Search for Network Operators brought up 2 AT&T and one TMobile. I am AT&T so I selected the first AT&T. (Note: I tried the second AT&T and the Auto and both were significantly slower data speeds than the first. I used Dolphin browser and Brighthouse Speedtest Tampa Bay. I get 3.5 Mbps down and 1 up. !/3 that with 2nd AT&T and auto.)

    Access Point Names
hit menu button and add new

    Name: AT&T
    APN: wap.cingular
    Proxy: leave blank
    Port: leave blank
    Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
    Password: leave blank
    Server: leave blank
    MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
    MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
    MMS Port: 80
    MCC:310
    MNC:410
    Authentication Type: PAP
    APN Type: leave blank

Hope you go back and tell AT&T chap the fix for all the other future Adam customers.

We tried different configuration and even switched plans around but nothing availed.
I've turned off the wifi for now. Right now my Adam shows the 4 full bars on the right notification bar, and when pulled down it says AT&T. However, when I open Browser or Dolphin Browser HD I get "No network connection, Browser cannot load this page because there is no internet connection."

Most of what we did at the AT&T store was change the Access Point settings but I was never able to get on the internet.

Help me Addicts, you're my only hope. (end hologram)
    ======================
I experienced a very frustrating time trying to get my 3G sim card to work with Adam (from AT&T). It came with Sierra Wireless 875U usb adapter.
I removed the sim card from the 875u and inserted into the Adam.
I am happy to say it is now working now. Here is what I did. Hope itwill work for you as well.

    1) Power off Adam
    2) Insert Sim card
    3) power on Adam
    4) Wait till you see the signal strength indicator on the top right corner
I see a 3G icon immediately to the left of the signal strength indicator.
    5) go to settings -> wireless&networks -> mobile networks
make sure 'enable data access over mobile networks' is checked
    6) click on access point names item. You should see a blank screen
    7) touch the menu button on the bezel (3rd from the top)
    8) click 'new apn'
    9) set name to 'att'
    10) set APN to 'isp.cingular' no other settings were required.
    11) touch menu button and save. you should have a single 'default' entry in APN screen called 'att'
    12) go back to (touch) "network operators" it should say "searching" for about a minut
    I see 3 lines that say 'AT&T'
14)touch 'Select Automatically' It should connect/register within a few secs
open browser see if it connects (it did for me)

    Good luck
