I really hope they provide a nice site where we can be provided the customized Android source so we can compile our own custom roms. According to the GPL they do need to provide the derivative works with the device. Has anyone heard anything about that?

It seems Rohan should have the right mentality. We own the devices and should be provided access to do what we want to do with them. I think I read somewhere it would be unlocked as far as carrier goes. But it would be nice if he provided a simple method of simply giving us root access if we choose to. Perhaps a special code or something. It can't be by default because of security issues, but for those aware of that issue and in the 'know', there needs to be a simple method.

If he's really into it, maybe he could even provide us with the location of the JTAG pins and any serial ports we can install. I may or may not utilize them, but it would be nice to have the access. I don't see how he can lose anything by providing that information. I've needed to solder pins on a board before to get serial access, it's comforting to know they are available in case you brick it. Of course I would expect a disclaimer about voiding any warranty for anything so in depth. But I hope it wouldn't void the warranty to pop it open just to replace a battery. Better battery tech comes out every year, would be nice to be able to upgrade it to 24hrs next year :D
