So am sure there are a whole of those, who have graduated in Nov-March, who got the 1st feel of the new baby.

Wots your experience over the past few months??

advice to novices like me- who are on the edge to buy a Tab.
Very fascinated by Adam , specially since its home grown product- yet apprehensive.
Only way I can get is a second's.

advice will be much solicited by the elder!!!!

My advice: get a real tablet like the asus transformer.

I like mine and have no problems with it other than certain gripes. But. in its current state, its not for everyone. If you aren't someone who likes to tinker and "make it better" then it isn't for you.

I like the tablet but it definitely does not deliver on all it's promises. If you need something for outside use this is definitely the one. Read the reviews they go into more details about the flaws and the good things.

Tinkering is easy on it even for a beginner and I have to say most apps run without a hitch even if they are not sized for a tablet. I find it more productive than an iPad.

If your only use is indoors than you will want to look at a tab with a better screen and a better camera. I love the swivel but the focus problem is a killer.

The answer as to what to buy is not as straightforward as you may think, and depends on what you need from the machine.

For me, the Pixel Qi screen was the important technology, but if I had known when I bought the Adam what I know now about it, I would have waited until the second generation device. I would probably still have bought the Adam, but not until they fixed the device, manufacture, supply chain, distribution, support and software problems. I feel they are still many months off doing that.

If I just wanted an Android tablet that worked and didn't need the PQ screen, there are a lot of alternatives out there now which are better, cheaper and, more importantly, available. Go for one of them.

If you do go for the Adam, the only reasons I can think to support that are the open architecture and modding community, meaning you will have a device which you can custimise and do geeky things with. If you aren't thinking about rooting Adam and installing a custom ROM, don't think abain an Adam at all.

If you have a lot of time and some capability to tinker with it, and don't mind waiting for months if something goes wrong and you need support's help, then I suppose yes.

If you need the PQ screen, worth a look.
If you want the hardware-get it but use the BEAST rom.
Else, look to another device.
All based on what specific use you will have for the unit.

factors, which weigh in favor of adam for me are:
1. its absolute innovation- made with passion- being an entrepreneur i can imagine what NI is going thru & am confident they will crack it.
2. LOVE The COMMUNITY, its amazing, never seen something like this ever, not that i am regular / geeky kinds but, the way people respond, express, guide is absolutely fascinating- its much bigger then having a regular customer care setup.
3.though am non techy- but i feel that adam can give me what i am looking for: robust platform, sturdy piece, handy, economical, gives me flexibility to do my: work, with regular documentations, read, do product demo of my products, multi tasking one of the key reasons why i want an driod baby. not sure how well apps function or can be there but am willing to bit it as it comes. also am willing to learn to tame/customise the ADAM- as i go along with the help of this wonderful community.

If you absolutely need one now and:
need sunlight readability get the adam.
don't need sunlight readability get the transformer or the upcoming galaxy tab 10.1/8.9.

If you can wait though then I would honestly wait and see how things pan out for a few months. There are going to be so many choices coming out that one might just fit you better.

Like most in first batch, I went through my share of pains. Finally got it around end of February.

For me, still it's best suited tablet for my use. Following things I love:

Ergonomics of the design.
Nice battery life.
Great community.
Some very stable roms out there and ongoing development.
Blend of openness and the performance (I have around 140 apps installed).

Having said that, from the Day 1 I have resorted to custom Roms. EdenX at beginning and now Beast. I DONT know about how is the gaming performance in Adam (I only played Angry Bird which plays without glitch).

If you are someone who likes the ability to tinker with your device from time to time for changes to better, Adam is great. If you want the device to do indoor browsing, reading etc and want the providing company to think about background s/w, updates etc, then there are already many alternatives available which might be good. Also, there are companies which will decide what you can put in your device and how you can put it (something like leasing it, though you are paying full money). So, at the end it boils down to the individual preferences.

The Newest builds have really turned the Adam into a functioning and sleek device. It has excellent hardware, especially in the PQi variants. This is a great advantage over any other market competitor if you are working in the field. Sure, it lacks the outta box feel of iOS or even other Android competitors, but once you get into the tinkering and newest builds (released today) plus adding your own software, its an excellent piece. Ergonomics and usability are major plusses. And in recent days, the support has gone from zero to hero. Good luck in you search. Check ebay, btw, Adams were flowing there. I'm really not a huge fan of honeycomb, and we don't have it yet. Eden 1.5 is perfect for what I do.

I guess I would qualify as an Elder. I'm happy with mine.

If you are scared to tinker or just want something that works out of the box, I would buy an iPad or something from a big company. But, if you like to customize your experience and try new things, the Adam can be great. Every day, it gets better for me. I add a new program or a new widget that makes the thing look and work the way I personally like it, not necessarily how the masses would like it. The backbone hardware is robust and the ROMs that people are constantly updating are making the thing live up to its potential. I've got a top of the line device that cost me $300 less than a similarly equipped iPad, and this can be read outdoors, has HDMI, expandable memory, and USB ports.

We have to remember that we're early adopters. We bought in the "pre-order" phase. So, many of the problems we have experienced are part of the trade-off for getting our hands on a cool piece of tech before it's available for widespread release. Yes, that means frustrations sometimes. But NI seems to be constantly working to improve their device and they seem to be listening to the community and adjusting the experience accordingly. In fact, rather than fighting off hackers, NI seems to be taking ideas from them. That's kind of cool.

I would definitely buy mine again. Sure, I look forward to the next generation of the PixelQi screen and would be happier if the stock ROM was better, but I definitely have gotten my money's worth.

Great response and I am typing this from my iPad btw! I am a happy NI customer learning quickly to adapt.
