I am afraid by the time ADAM goes in production, ADAM 2 will be out! And I am afraid that all the people that have invested in the initial product will be left behind while the engineers at Notion Addicts concentrate on the newer device with a Tegra 3 processor...

I guess I am the only one with this concern since nobody are writting anything... or maybe it is a taboo subject.

It is a matter of record that NI was at least contemplating the fate of Adam 2, something that sparked a series of responses on the NI 'Blog about "getting Adam 1 right before you start dreaming Adam 2" (paraphrased). As to the schedule for commercial releases--who knows? NI at the moment appears to be akin to a young adult--full of dreams and passion, but seemingly overconfident and not quite as capable of living up to their claims as they first thought. This does not mean that they will not mature, just that they're going to need a little bit of time. Perhaps they should even listen to the advice of their parents (not a reference to Rohan, but a continuation of the analogy--bring in a business manager [=parents] to get things sorted out!).

Good comment MATrickett!!! You don't think that the ADAM 1 is a cover charge for the ADAM 2. A way to start the company and then sell the real product??

If NI wants to come out with an Adam 2 in a year, they need to be working on it now. The mistake, which supports MATrickett's commend above, is that Rohan should never have mentioned it at all, especially not until the Adam 1 was in full production.

Contrary to the criticisms he has gotten here and on other forums, he needs to be LESS open and honest. That's how you run a corporation, unfortunately. Mention a rear trackpad early in planning, before you discover that it isn't possible at this time, and "fans" will never let you forget it. Same with the assumption that you make a matte surface ... it just didn't work out. Better not to have mentioned it.

I think that I need to find something other to say to linuxbz's posts other than "+1," yet it often seems to be the most appropriate comment.

All said and done, I remain hopeful that NIA can move forwards and begin to to contribute positively towards the Adam community. :D

On the trackpad issue, one of the things that I appreciated from NI's showing in 2010 (and subsequently) was that I got an indication of the passion and vision of NI. I was never entirely convinced about the effectiveness of the trackpad, at least all things considered, but it shows a willingness to push the boundaries when it comes to the ergonomics of a device. It's one of the things that, despite the common perception, I think that Apple Inc. has lost. One can talk about "humanities directing science/technology," but I think that it actually behooves a company to move from the established convention and actually think about how a device might be used rather than how you think that they should use your device.

Its doubtful. I mean its the same OS and just a faster platform so everything will be updated for both versions. It will basically be like upgrading a PC from a dual-core and single GPU to a quad-core and Tri-SLI, but still running Windows (or Linux...).

Besides early adopters get Adam early so I'm not really seeing a problem here...

Why not just wait for Xoom 2? You do realize "this" (being the product not getting updated after version II) is just as possible to happen with the Xoom right? ;)

(and considering its motorola I'd expect it more...)

Do you really think they can survive for ADAM2? I doubt!
