Notion Ink Adam Pre-order 2 Announcement

As many of you may have noticed, Notion Ink has slowly begun to send out email invites for the Notion Ink Adam pre-order 2. Some members of NotionAddicts may have received this invite already, while others have not.

To those who have not yet received an invite to pre-order their Notion Ink Adam:
DO NOT PANIC! Please, take a deep breathe, exhale, relax, and continue reading below. :)

Those who received a pre-order 2 email received it as part of batch 1. The goal of batch 1 of pre-order 2 is to ensure that the orders will be trouble-free. By allowing only a small number of people to initially pre-order, Notion Ink can ensure that the information is appropriate and the system is easy for customers, in addition to being able to quickly address any bugs and/or issues that those who pre-order might experience.

The next batch (batch 2) of pre-order 2 will begin in a few days after batch 1 is successfully fulfilled. So, if you were a NotionAddicts members as of 11PM Pacific Standard Time on January 23, 2011, please (patiently) keep an eye on your email inbox for your invitation link.

NOTE: If you were not, please DO NOT reply here asking to be added to pre-order 2. We have already sent Notion Ink the list of NotionAddicts' members as of 11PM Pacific Standard Time on January 23, 2011, and (unfortunately) we will not be able to add you to the pre-order 2 list. Maybe you need to be happy. As maybe NI knows 3g works for US but not for other countries yet. What's the point in ordering something which won't work.
I would be happy to know if things will work or not before ordering.

Will there be a European adapter / connector included for the European countries in the next pre-order? I think it's silly to have some kind of powerconnector converter inbetween the US adapter and our European Wall Socket. I signed up right away just in case there were any other offers in the future. Surely the invites won't take up the capacity of new stock. I am quite frustrated to hear some pre-order 2 emails have already been emailed out - i have been following Adam for over 1 year, posted comments on their blog site and have been patiently waiting for the next pre-order email, having never recieved anything when the first pre-order email went out, much to my frustration.

It appears that I am in for a replay of preorder 1 with no email of notice from NI. Guess, someone at NI does not want me to get one and I will need to start looking at alternatives :(
This is not what I want to do, but I can't wait forever, especially since it appears that the process of selection for getting an Adam seem to be totally arbitrary and random, and that at this rate, my chance of getting an Adam before this summer is very low....

Preorder II batch 1 LOL:
This is the biggest BS if seen so far on this board and you are repeating it. NI sold off their canceled and returned units.
Preorder II batch 1 section A: That is the only purpose of this and that is why they can ship on the 15th and that is why they can sell only a few devices.

Instead of Preorder II batch 1 section II OR Preorder II batch 2 section I we just need a working ORDER page and sufficient stock in their shipping department.
This is all totally crazy.

I agree with you. It is sad to see Rohan doing this. For people who have been commenting on the blog right from the beginning, the original pre-order invite didn't come.

And all this BS of multiple batches and no invites yet for those people. How do they guarantee that the model a person wants won't be sold out by the time their turn comes to order?

I wouldn't get excited with the dates that NI comes up with. The guys who've already ordered and that too long time ago are yet to get theirs.

This happened to me when I tried to order in preorder I when it was opened to public. Twice and Amex didn't accept it. Call them up and ask them to allow the transaction to go through. It was mentioned in the email invite that came out for preorder II (as posted in page1 of this thread).

Or use a visa. I haven't seen people having those issues with Visa. If you don't have one, then please buy a Visa gift card and use it.

There are lots (at the NI blog, here, NIFan blogs) that are waiting to order. I would expect it to take a while for NI to get them through the ordering process, then finish manufacturing and complete shipping/delivery. So retail option would be available only after all this is done.

I am really patient. I've been following pre-order 1 very close, and I expect to see my Adam delivered sometimes in April. If it will be sooner I'll be happy, but regardless of any estimation from NI I am prepared for April.

Actually neither ... on order page AmEx and Visa have different icons. I think AmEx link has a problem ... First time I clicked on AmEx icon and I tried several times, every time with an error message. After I got your message I followed Visa link, and on the next page I was asked if I want to use AmEx or Visa. I chose AmEx and my order went through from the first attempt. On short, doesn't matter if you want to pay with AmEx or Visa, at the beginning choose Visa.

Thanks Ownad. Further explanation as to how those initial few were selected and not others would be helpful. Also how NI is going to ensure that people who're going to order in subsequent batches will have the opportunity to select the model/variant that they're interested in.

If that variant is sold out because the previous batch(es) used them up, what's going to be done by NI?

When preorder 1 opened up for public, I tried to place orders twice and it didn't go through. I don't see NI doing anything yet to many such people who had a order# but couldn't fulfill the transaction. They could've been included in the batch 1 of this round of order.

Please feel free to pass on this to NI or Rohan.

Well think of it like this:
The later you are in the preorder, the longer they have to work out bugs, and the more likely you are to get a adam thats not defective.

That likely is double for pixel qi pre-orders. The origional batch of screens is likely gone, and hopefully qi's warehouse is empty of that older model or nearly empty.
It would mean a newer version screen would likely be shipped to NI.

Its funny i've been a part of notion ink community for more than one year and After get to eap2 and get refused and get an email that said to me i'll be one of the first person to receive adam as a developer but since there is deception after deception! i not only didn't get any mail for the first pre-order but nothing up to now concerning the 2nd pre order!!! :(

beside of this i don't believe that this is the real pre oder II, its as rohan said, just a test to see if they can do better than the last time or not?! let give them a chance maybe this time everybody will be satisfy(what i don't really believe in it but let say a miracle is possible)!

well the Adam may be the 'anointed one' with reference to innovation and performance, but it certainly rates as poorly with reference to availability and clarity of ordering. never before have i seen such effort put into making the purchase of a product so difficult. the website is a masterpiece of obscurity, if you wanted to order one then it is mystifying on how to go about it. if it does not become available soon, then i will purchase a Xoom at least they are transparent on availability and release dates.

I think, by now all pre-order emails/links are expired. They were valid only for 36 hours, and the emails were sent on Saturday (at least mine was sent on Saturday).

Well Riffer as i said to you i contact notion ink support team and they respond to me really quick it seems that if haven't been part of the previous preoder if you send them a mail they will put you in the priority set but anyway if you wait for a bit longer you will be able to command it online as a usual costumer! (last post of rohan) actually i receive an email from notion ink team and i already command my adam and normally it say that i will recieve between 25 feb ~ 10 march! have a good day!

I received the mail this morning telling me I was in the batch for the preorder session 2, and 30 minutes after reveived a link to order.

I just did it and I'm now a futur owner of a Wi-Fi PixelQi Notion ink tablet !

I have received the first email from Notion ink, stating I should receive a second one with an invite link between the 9th and the 11th of February
Dispatch times will vary between 25th Feb to March on a first come first served basis

I'd be excited to order once I get my email, but the no Mastercard option is pretty sad. I mean come on, SO many people don't use Visa, get with the times.

My wife has a Visa but I'd prefer to not use it if I could avoid it. Is there any chance that they will be able to make M/C available for preorder 2?

Other than i dont have amex/visa and only MC , another concern is why would nt NI

get approval from MC ?

Makes one suspicious ? What is it about NI that MC would nt aprove ?

I believe i read here or somewhere , Rohan at one time said NI had applied to MC

then recently i believe he/someone said MC was ready for pre order 2

Now its not available , more double talk ?

Link should be to the store (nothing special, one for all), where you should enter your e-mail and password wich you should receive in the invitation e-mail.

and after the ccavenue page it took me to a Verified by VISA (http://usa.visa.com/merchants/risk_management/vbv.html)page where i had to activate that, but it went well like a breeze

Like my pal from Beligium, I tryed again and it seems that now is working. It took me to a secure place from Visa where I had to put my CIP code.

I got a card bin stop listed. I had the same problem that screwed me out of preorder 1 but I thought they would have Mastercard working this time. Bank says they aren't blocking so sent email to notion ink support. Anyone no how to fix this or I will be screwed again. If I can't order this time I'm moving on. I wasted enough time on this product.
