Hey!

I did search the forum but haven't been able to find anything about these topics:

- Will there be root accessible on adam? Easy or blocked in some way?
- Will the bootloader be signed or unsigned? (flashing custom ROMs)

Just shortly on that topic: YES, you will loose guarantee when rooting / flashing custom ROMs for sure. And that is so *totally* ok for me. ^^ Experimenting has its price!

More important right now (as pre-ordering might start the next weeks):

- Will it be possible to flash an official ROM (made by Notion Ink) after you received your adam? Will there be software and resources?

I plan to import an adam from U.S. to germany to have it in my hands ASAP. ;) So it would be kind of important to me that someday (when a german version of adam OS is available) I am able to flash that german OS to the adam *without* loosing guarantee right away. I don't mind english GUI at all (more exactly I like english GUI much more than sloppy translations), but I do need those german "umlaut"s (ä, ü, ö) and some other "german" features (don't know how to denote that in a better way...). At least for work. ^^

THNX!!! And BR!

PS: Oh my, oh my, I just cant wait. :D

I guess you have(/had) a motorola milestone :-)

anyway we won't know it until somebody has device and looks.
I have good hope that the bootloader is not signed as I didn't read nothing about this in the tegra2 specs (opposed to the the Omap used in the Motorola Milestone)

Expect the answer to your questions at least before the end of this year

HOW DID YOU GUESS?!?!?!

;) ;) ;)

Yeah, I am some kind of "once bitten, twice shy". I still have the milestone as (thnx to people like nadlabak, scrillax and many many others) there are some *kiiiind oooffff* custom roms, i.e. modded stock roms. At least the most important features are there, in spite of that bootlock.

I hope that Notion Ink goes on with that opened up communication. That also accounts modders. Notion ink could nearly rely on those guys finding solutions to bugs for free + enhancements such as OVPN, CiscoVPN, Ad-hoc WiFi etc. Let's see, I AM hoping for the best!

It's been my experience that most devices that are bought off carrier subsidy are fairly easy to modify (root/flash etc). The security features to prevent you from rooting are, from my understanding, done mainly to keep you locked into the carrier you bought the device with. I've also seen videos where they talk about Ubuntu on the adam so I doubt they'll go to a ton of effort to prevent customization. Just my 2c.

This is also very important to me. My wife and I both had G1s, mine I got at launch, and HTC/T-Mo stopped supporting it after 1.6. If I hadn't been able to run community ROMs, I would have felt my phone age prematurely, but instead I was able to run everything up to 2.2 on it. And, when 2.2 was ported to it, the thing ran a lot faster than it used to.

Rooting opens up the possibility of installing something like Ubuntu along-side android, similar to how it's currently done on other phones, and the Galaxy Tab. Being able to root also buys you the ability to overclock; my phone was sold as a 1GHz phone, and now I'm running it at 1.7GHz. These are things that will extend the usefulness of the device, and keep it current long passed what might otherwise be expected.

To soon to tel if it will be possible but i know i won't do it that quickly as I want to dig in on this UI. I love to get in a tinker, that's why I have an EVO and it was Rooted 5 mins after i walked out of the store in the parking lot. I want to see what they have to offer. Maybe after a month or so I may change my tune.
